Why “now!”?<\/h3>\n

I got the idea for the “now!” page from Derek Sivers<\/a> a few years ago, but only realised it on the current site. Why someone didn’t introduce a “now”-page<\/a> as standard long ago is unclear to me.<\/p>\n

Websites often lie idle for far too long because updates seem too complicated. No visitor can guess which topics are particularly close to your heart. However, if I outline my current focus briefly, every visitor knows whether there is a match of shared interests – which is crucial for new projects and collaborations.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

(Meta-) data validation<\/h4>\n

Data is only of value if its reliability can be proven. In March 2023, I described the challenge in the article “Linking Metadata, Validation, and Democracy”<\/a>. The possibility of validating data is becoming increasingly relevant, not only as an essential component in solving the music industry’s metadata problems, but also in the age of AI. Since at least news reports should be checked for their truthfulness<\/a> and thus for their reliability, the task of data validation must be researched as a priority.<\/p>\n

Outcome and efficiency of small events in the creative industries<\/h4>\n

Sustainable evaluation through cooperation instead of one-off throwaway events is a natural and logical demand. For several years now, I’ve been preoccupied by the absurdity of the multitude of workshops, barcamps, conferences and, in particular, hackathons. The noble goal is the sustainability of the results. Ultimately, however, there is almost always just the bare event. Why not really<\/em> build a sustainable, efficient and cooperative infrastructure for long-term work on topics instead of building communities again and again with a lead time of six months and then not maintaining them? In discussions with cultural department heads, project and event managers and other stakeholders, it quickly becomes apparent that a bottom-up approach can achieve and move a lot by simple means.<\/p>\n

Job aggregator for the creative industries<\/h4>\n

99% of the European cultural and creative industries are made up of SMEs, including a high proportion of (solo) self-employed people. Collaborations and contract work are usually time-limited, resulting in a constant fluctuation of the entire labour market. For most of us, finding a job or contract depends more on network recommendations or, let’s be honest, coincidence. Requirements and job profiles do not fit into conventional portals. There is no central hub for creatives, (solo) self-employed people, SMEs, municipalities, companies and organisations.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Fancy a joint project?
